Brickwork & blockwork in Trowbridge & Wiltshire

Garden walls, retaining walls, gate piers, steps and repairs — built off proper concrete footings with neat, consistent pointing. Our bricklayers match existing brickwork closely on extensions to walls and repairs, so new work doesn't shout.

Retaining walls get particular care: correct footing sizes, engineering blocks or reinforced cores where loads demand it, and drainage behind the wall so water pressure never builds up.

We also build the masonry that supports our other work — patio steps, raised planters, barbecue areas and the piers and dwarf walls that frame fences and railings.

Proper footings

Every wall starts with a concrete footing sized for its height and load — never laid straight on soil.

Drainage behind retaining walls

Weep holes and gravel backfill as standard, so walls don't crack under water pressure.

Brick matching

We source bricks to match existing work for repairs and extensions to walls.

Common questions

How high can a garden wall be?+

Up to 2 metres (1 metre next to a highway) without planning permission in most cases. Retaining walls holding significant ground may need building control input — we'll advise.
